Visit over eighty interactive stations in two fun exhibitions for children ages 5 - 12: From Home to Home: Jewish Immigration to America and From Tent to Temple: Life in the Ancient Near East. In From Home to Home, children pack small trunks, shop in a supermarket while decoding a new language, design a neighborhood and much more. Hunting for food, grinding wheat, and weaving cloth are just some of the exciting activities in From Tent to Temple.
Anytime during your visit, join us in the art room for the art activities below.
 
February on Sundays: 2-5pm
2/10: Use sheet metal and beads to create "ancient" jewelry; create a comic strip about immigration to America
2/17: Create an immigration board game; work with little stones to create mosaics
2/24: Learn how to weave; build a miniature New York neighborhood

3/9: Purim Prep:  Create costumes and masks; make noise makers; create and illustrate a Purim scroll
3/16: 1-2pm: Special Purim Event: I Need a Queen: The King's Version.  David Mitnowsky, a.k.a. King Ahasverosh, will amuse young and old alike spoofing the scroll of Esther in his interactive "Purim Spiel".  Hilarity abounds!  Ages 5 and up only.  $14 per person.  Upper level members $7.  Registration Required:  Call 212-924-4500, ext 1#
3/16: 2-5pm: Play in the exhibitions, participate in a treasure hunt, make costumes and noise makers, create and illustrate a Purim scroll
3/23: Celebrate Women's History Month: Illustrate stories of famous Jewish women in Biblical and modern times; create paper dolls based on images of women in the exhibitions
3/30: Learn how to weave; build a miniature New York neighborhood

4/6: Use clay to build models of ancient mud houses; create a comic strip about immigration

Tuesday 4/22, Wednesday 4/23, Thursday 4/24:  Design matzah boxes; make miniature clay bricks and use them to build a model of an ancient house

5/4: Celebrate Israel's Independence Day with Israeli songs and crafts: Create flags, pins and kinetic pictures
5/11: Mother's Day!  Bring Mom to CGJC for free! Make jewelry boxes and necklaces; draw and frame Mom's portrait; make tissue-paper flowers
5/18: Use sheet metal and beads to create "ancient" jewelry; create an immigration board game
5/25: Learn how to weave; build a miniature New York neighborhood

6/22: Create an embossed treasure trunk; use sheet metal and beads to create "ancient" jewelry
6/29: Prep for July 4th: Frame the Declaration of Independence; design and American postage stamp; create American flag pins
